US Confirms Iran Ceasefire Holds Despite Fresh Clashes, UAE Hit by Attacks

The United States has said its ceasefire with Iran remains in place despite recent exchanges of fire in the Gulf region.

U.S. officials acknowledged clashes between their forces and Iran, particularly around efforts to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz, but maintained that these incidents have not yet broken the truce.

At the same time, the United Arab Emirates reported coming under missile and drone attacks attributed to Iran, marking a serious escalation.

UAE authorities said their air defence systems were actively intercepting incoming threats and described the attacks as a direct danger to national security, while reserving the right to respond.

The tensions are largely centred on the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route that has been disrupted since earlier hostilities began.

The U.S. military has launched operations to escort commercial vessels through the waterway, claiming to have created limited safe corridors, though Iran disputes that normal navigation has resumed.

Iran, however, has accused the U.S. and its allies of violating the ceasefire through these naval operations and broader military pressure.

Tehran insists it retains control over movement in the strait and has warned that vessels not complying with its directives could face force, further complicating efforts to stabilise the region.

Despite the ongoing violence and rising tensions, diplomatic efforts are still underway to preserve the fragile truce.

Mediation initiatives involving regional and international actors continue, with both sides signaling some willingness to negotiate even as sporadic attacks and military responses keep the situation volatile.
