    University of Calabar Holds 38th Convocation, Charges Graduates on Lifelong Learning

    The University of Calabar earlier today, held its 38th Convocation Ceremony at the Abraham Ordia Stadium, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of its graduating students.

    The event attracted a distinguished gathering of academics, members of the University Council, key stakeholders, as well as families and friends who came to celebrate the achievements of the graduands. The ceremony commenced with a colorful academic procession, featuring graduating students and university officials, setting a dignified tone for the occasion.

    In her opening role, the Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Chukwuka Icha, formally introduced the Chancellor, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, who delivered the opening address. In his remarks, he charged the graduating students to embrace lifelong learning, emphasizing that education does not end with the award of a degree but continues as a vital tool for personal and professional growth. He encouraged them to remain curious, innovative, and resilient in the face of global challenges.

    The Pro-Chancellor, DIG Udom Ekpoudom, in his goodwill message, commended the graduates for their perseverance and dedication. He urged them to uphold the values of integrity, discipline, and excellence instilled in them during their time at the institution. He further reminded them that they are ambassadors of the University of Calabar and should strive to make meaningful contributions to society.

    In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Offiong Effanga Offiong, congratulated the graduating students on their academic accomplishments, describing the convocation as a celebration of hard work, determination, and success. He encouraged them to be bold in pursuing their dreams and to leverage their knowledge and skills to create opportunities, not only for themselves but also for others. He also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to producing graduates who are equipped to compete globally.

    A major highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of academic excellence. The Overall Best Graduating Student, Mr. Offiong Bassey Edet, was honoured with a cash award of ₦500,000 in recognition of his outstanding academic performance, drawing applause from attendees and inspiring fellow graduates.

    The ceremony was marked by moments of pride and celebration as degrees were conferred on deserving students, symbolizing the culmination of years of academic dedication.

    The 38th Convocation Ceremony of the University of Calabar stands as a testament to the institution’s enduring commitment to academic excellence and the continuous development of future leaders.
