    NUCJ-UCC Honours Umoh Samuel as Journalist of the Week

    The Nigerian Union of Campus Journalists, University of Calabar Council (NUCJ-UCC), has named Comrade Umoh Samuel, the General Secretary, as its Journalist of the Week, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to campus journalism.

    The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Office of the Vice President on April 3, 2026.

    Umoh Samuel, a 200-level student of English and Literary Studies in the Faculty of Arts, University of Calabar, was described as a passionate and dedicated young journalist whose work continues to inspire his peers. His growing reputation in writing, broadcasting, and reporting has positioned him as one of the most promising voices within the campus media space.

    According to the statement, Samuel’s commitment to excellence and his ability to uncover and tell impactful stories earned him the weekly spotlight. “His passion for journalism and consistency in delivering quality content distinguish him among his contemporaries,” the union noted.

    The union further highlighted his keen eye for detail and creative flair in storytelling, adding that he is steadily building a strong foundation for a successful career in media and communication.

    Speaking on the recognition, the Vice President of NUCJ-UCC, Benjamin Emmanuel, commended Samuel for his dedication and encouraged other student journalists to emulate his work ethic and professionalism.

    Similarly, the President of the council, Comrade Uwatomo Abimbola, reaffirmed the union’s commitment to promoting excellence and rewarding outstanding performance among its members.

    The Journalist of the Week initiative is part of NUCJ-UCC’s effort to motivate campus journalists and celebrate individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to the profession.

    Umoh Samuel’s recognition this week underscores his rising influence and the impact of his contributions within the University of Calabar media community.
