UAE Denies Involvement in Sudan Airport Attack

The United Arab Emirates has firmly denied allegations by Sudan that it was involved in a recent drone attack on Khartoum International Airport.

According to Reports, a UAE official described the accusations as “misinformation,” rejecting claims that an Emirati drone launched from Ethiopia was used in the strike.

Sudan’s military had earlier accused both the UAE and Ethiopia of supporting the attack, alleging that drones originated from Ethiopia’s Bahir Dar airport with Emirati backing.

These claims are part of wider accusations that the UAE has been supporting the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has been engaged in a prolonged conflict with Sudan’s army. However, both the UAE and Ethiopia have denied any involvement.

The Sudanese army said it had evidence, including images and flight path data, to support its claims, though these have not been independently verified.

Sudanese officials also warned they were prepared to respond to what they described as violations of their sovereignty.

The attack on Khartoum airport marked a renewed escalation in Sudan’s civil war, disrupting a period of relative calm after the army regained control of the capital.

Drone strikes have increasingly become a key tactic in the conflict, which began in 2023 and has since caused massive casualties and displacement.

International reactions have followed the incident, with countries such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia condemning external interference in Sudan.

The United States has also called for an end to outside support for both sides in the conflict, emphasizing the need for de-escalation and a return to peace efforts.
