Iran Targets US bases in Jordan and Gulf after Trump orders Strikes near Hormuz

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched missile and drone attacks against a U.S. military base in Jordan and 21 other targets across the Gulf region after President Donald Trump ordered strikes on Iranian positions near the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran described the attacks as retaliation for recent U.S. military action following the downing of an American Apache helicopter.

The United States carried out a four-hour operation targeting Iranian air-defense systems, radar installations, and command facilities near the strategic waterway.

Washington said the strikes were a “proportional response” to the helicopter incident, while Trump warned that the U.S. would respond firmly to any threats against its forces.

Iran claimed its attacks struck military facilities, including command centers and aircraft-related infrastructure.

However, authorities in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain reported that most incoming missiles and drones were intercepted, with no immediate casualties reported.

The affected countries activated their air-defense systems and monitored the situation closely.

The latest exchange marks one of the most serious escalations between Washington and Tehran since the ceasefire reached in April.

Iranian officials said their actions were carried out in self-defense and warned regional countries against supporting U.S. or Israeli military operations against Iran.

The renewed hostilities have heightened concerns over security in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments.

Oil prices rose as markets reacted to fears of further disruption, while diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring stability and securing a broader peace agreement remain stalled.
