U.S. President Donald Trump has insisted that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran remains in place despite renewed clashes in the Gulf region.

Trump said American forces responded after three U.S. Navy destroyers were attacked while passing through the Strait of Hormuz, although no damage was reported to the vessels.

The latest fighting reportedly began after Iran accused the U.S. of violating the truce through attacks on Iranian tankers and civilian-linked targets.

Iran also carried out fresh military actions near the Gulf, while the United Arab Emirates said it intercepted Iranian missiles and drones aimed at its territory, leaving several people injured.

Despite the flare-up, Trump maintained that diplomatic efforts were still ongoing and said Washington continued to push for a broader peace agreement with Tehran.

The proposed deal reportedly includes demands for Iran to abandon its nuclear weapons ambitions in exchange for an end to hostilities and possible easing of tensions in the region.

The conflict has also affected global oil markets, with crude oil prices rising sharply amid fears of disruption to shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy corridors.

Analysts warned that continued instability in the Gulf could further shake global energy supplies and financial markets.

Although both sides continue to accuse each other of violating the ceasefire, U.S. officials said the latest exchanges have not yet crossed the threshold for a return to full-scale war.

Trump reiterated that negotiations remain active and expressed hope that Iran would eventually respond positively to the American peace proposal
