U.S. President Donald Trump was confirmed safe after a shooting incident disrupted the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington.

A gunman attempted to breach security at the event venue, prompting Secret Service agents to quickly evacuate Trump, the First Lady, and other senior officials.

The suspect was apprehended at the scene, and authorities said the situation was brought under control.

Gunfire near a security checkpoint caused panic among the roughly 2,600 attendees, with many taking cover as security personnel rushed key figures to safety.

Reports indicated the suspect was armed with multiple weapons and fired at least one shot, with one Secret Service agent struck but protected by a bulletproof vest. No senior government officials were injured during the incident.

Following the incident, Trump praised law enforcement for their swift response and confirmed that all top officials were safe.

The event was ultimately cancelled as investigations began, with authorities working to determine the motive behind the attack.

The shooting has heightened concerns about security at high-profile political gatherings in the United States.
