The Cross River State Carnival Commission has announced plans to host a Carnival Parade of Thanksgiving in Calabar on Monday, April 6, 2026.
According to a statement released by the Commission in conjunction with the Event Management Unit of the Governor’s Office, the parade will commence at 10:00 a.m. and will bring together residents, faith-based groups, and visitors in a celebration of gratitude and unity.
The event, themed “Glorification and the Glory of the Lord is risen upon us” (Isaiah 60:1), is aimed at promoting thanksgiving, spiritual upliftment, and communal harmony across Cross River State. Organizers noted that participants and spectators should expect colorful displays of music, dance, cultural expressions, and thanksgiving offerings reflecting the rich heritage of the state.

The procession will begin at Millennium Park and move through Calabar Road, Watt Market Roundabout, Nelson Mandela Street, Target, Mary Slessor Avenue, Marian Road, Rabana Junction, and IBB Way, before returning to Millennium Park.
The Commission also issued a traffic advisory, stating that all routes along the parade corridor will be temporarily closed during the event. Motorists and commuters have been advised to make use of alternative routes. The Commission expressed regret for any inconvenience and appealed for public understanding and cooperation.
