The Cross River Government security outfit “Operation Akpakwu”, which comprises of all the forces in the state demolished four houses at 8-Miles area in Calabar owned by suspected kidnappers. Many were feared injured on Tuesday morning in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital when a tanker fell on ever busy Kuto – Okemosan road. The tanker fell after grazing through a Lexus jeep at the GTBANK stretch of the road. Report has it that at least four vehicles whose owners fled when the tanker fell were completely burnt. The Senate of the University of Calabar have announced 5th of February, 2021 as the resumption date for continuation of the 2019/2020 academic session. This was announced official at the institution Senate Chambers during a brief senate meeting this morning. Furthermore, the calendar sees students arriving campus on the 5th of February, while lectures start on the 8th of February. However, the revised calabar for second semester sees students returning to campus on April 16 with lectures running for 13 weeks and 5 weeks for examinations. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi has urged youths to fight unemployment with entrepreneurial and vocational skills. The National Examinations Council (NECO) on Wednesday has released the internal Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE) results with a two per cent increase of candidates who made five credits and above in all subjects. The examination was conducted between October and November 2020, amid the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus. Schools across the nation will resume on January 18 except the Ministry of Education announces otherwise, the Federal Government stated on Tuesday.
