Youths of the Bayside community in Calabar South Local Government Area have locked up the Marina Resort over claims of corruption. The youths also invoked the marine god believed to protect the Calabar channel, Anansa and accused State actors and resort management of corruption. The youths accused the Commissioner for Tourism, Eric Anderson and one Mr. Utsu John of mismanagement and diversion of public funds. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a bill extending the retirement age for teachers in the country from 60 years to 65 years. The Federal Executive Council, during its first meeting of the year 2021, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, approved the bill; Harmonized Retirement Age for Teachers Bill, 2021, to be sent to the National Assembly for its consideration and possible approval. The Cross River Government security outfit “Operation Akpakwu”, which comprises of all the forces in the state demolished four houses at 8-Miles area in Calabar owned by suspected kidnappers. The Senate of the University of Calabar have announced 5th of February, 2021 as the resumption date for continuation of the 2019/2020 academic session. This was announced official at the institution Senate Chambers during a brief senate meeting this morning. Furthermore, the calendar sees students arriving campus on the 5th of February, while lectures start on the 8th of February.
