Three container vessels were hit by gunfire in the Strait of Hormuz amid escalating regional tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
According to reports gathered by calabaronline maritime security sources and the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that the incidents occurred as Iran imposed restrictions on shipping in response to a U.S. naval blockade and earlier bombardments.
One Liberia-flagged container ship sustained damage after being struck by gunfire and rocket-propelled grenades northeast of Oman. The vessel’s bridge was hit during an encounter with an Iranian Revolutionary Guard gunboat.
Despite the attack, all crew members on board were reported safe, and no environmental damage was recorded.
Two additional vessels—a Panama-flagged ship and another Liberia-flagged container ship—were also fired upon in nearby waters but did not suffer damage, and their crews were unharmed.
