The attention of the management of the Cross River State Tourism Bureau has been drawn to faceless reports circulating in the social media space linking youths of Bayside community in Calabar South to certain unsavoury actions at the Marina Resort. We wish to inform the public that these miscreants are acting out a script at the instance of the erstwhile CSO of the Resort, who was demoted by the management for documented and corroborated acts of gross misconduct.

From inception in February, 2020, the current Management team has taken deliberate steps to revive tourism activities in and around the resort by effecting much needed repairs on the Resort’s facilities and introducing new products and services for the benefit of the government and people of Cross River State. Under the current management, over 80% of the current workforce gainfully employed at the resort are from the Bayside community.

At no time has there been any erroneous collection, diversion and/or mismanagement of public funds as falsely alleged by these criminal elements. The general public is welcome to investigate the facts and is hereby urged to disregard the falsehood being peddled by these misguided and disgruntled elements who do not represent the views of the Bayside community at large.

All related reports have since been brought to the attention of relevant security agencies for prompt action.

    Signed:
