The convoy was travelling between Bawku and Bolgatanga when unidentified gunmen opened fire near the town of Binduri in the Upper East Region.

The Ghana Armed Forces said soldiers accompanying the convoy quickly responded to the ambush, engaging the attackers in a gun battle.

In the ensuing clash, seven of the assailants were killed, while one civilian was reported injured during the incident.

Security forces also recovered weapons and ammunition from the scene, and about ten suspects were arrested to assist with ongoing investigations.
