The Student Union Government (SUG) Directorate of Welfare at the University of Calabar has announced plans to host its 2026 Health Week on campus, with a series of activities aimed at promoting student well-being and public health awareness.

The three-day event, themed “Health De New Flex,” is scheduled to take place from April 22 to April 24, 2026, at the UNICAL campus in Calabar.

According to the organizers, the programme will feature a range of activities including a Health Mega Rally, health symposium, mental health workshops, and a medical outreach designed to provide basic healthcare services to students and members of the surrounding community.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Offiong E. Offiong, will serve as the Grand Patron of the week. The Chairman of the event is Ikechukwu Ukwueh, Founder of HOGIS Group.

The Honourable Commissioner for Health in Cross River State, Henry Egbe Ayuk, is expected to attend as Guest Speaker, while Chris Eyo Ojikpong will participate as Special Guest of Honour.

Also listed among key speakers is Ofem Ofem Ikpi, who will contribute to discussions on healthcare delivery and medical practice.

The event is being convened by the SUG Director of Welfare, Obioha Ozioma Precious, who noted that the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to prioritize student health and encourage a culture of wellness across the university community.

Organizers say the Health Week will provide a platform for engagement between healthcare professionals, students, and stakeholders, while also addressing key health challenges affecting young people.

Members of the university community and the general public have been encouraged to participate in the activities.
