The University of Calabar Electoral Commission (CUECO) has released the list of screened candidates cleared to contest various positions in the 2026 Students’ Union Government (SUG) elections at the University of Calabar.
According to the published document signed by the Chairman of CUECO 2026, Prof. Peter Ubi, and Secretary, Imeh Bassey, candidates contesting for the office of President include Enyiofem Eta Eta of the Faculty of Computing, Ebong Vordina Francis of Political Science, and Ibingha God’swill Okom of Economics, all of whom were cleared to participate in the election.
However, Boyibi-Tawo Matthew K. of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences was not cleared.
For the office of Vice-President, Egbeji Uchechukwu Pascaline, Onyekachi Princess Chidimma, and Isreal Hosannah Chinaemenma were all cleared by the electoral commission.
The commission also approved candidates for other executive positions, including Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, Financial Secretary, Director of Welfare, and Director of Information.
Among candidates screened for Secretary General, Victor E. Enya was cleared, while Ngozi Ude Orji and Adie John Anthony were not cleared by the commission. Jacob Goodluck Kingsley was cleared unopposed for the position of Deputy Secretary General.
In the Financial Secretary category, Effiong Blossom Edem was cleared to contest, while Obioha Ozioma Precious was declared not cleared.
Eze Fabian Ejike and Edama Jude Igbang were both cleared for the positions of Director of Welfare and Director of Information respectively.
The publication of the screening results marks a major step toward the conduct of the 2026 SUG elections at the University of Calabar, with students expected to commence campaigns ahead of the polls.
