Cross River State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has approved the constitution of the Cross River State Bursary Steering Committee to oversee the effective implementation of the state’s bursary programme.

The development was announced in a press release issued on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, by the Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mr. Linus Obogo.

The committee is chaired by the Chairman of the Cross River State Scholarship Board, Prof. Paul Itari. Other members are Comrade Kelvin Enyam, Mr. Matthew Ochiche, and Comrade Abini Okoi, while Dr. Emmanuel Duke will serve as Secretary.

According to the statement, the committee has been mandated to develop a transparent bursary application process, design an efficient data collection and payment framework, engage key stakeholders, reduce administrative bottlenecks, and recommend strategies that will ensure a credible, inclusive, and accountable bursary administration system.

Governor Otu said the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to expanding access to educational opportunities and strengthening support for students across Cross River State through a transparent and efficient bursary scheme.
