UEFA has rejected FC Barcelona’s formal complaint over refereeing decisions in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg defeat to Atlético Madrid.
The complaint centred on a controversial second-half incident in which Barcelona believed they should have been awarded a penalty after a suspected handball inside the box, but neither the referee nor VAR intervened.

According to reports carried by Flashscore (via Reuters), UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body ruled the protest “inadmissible,” meaning it would not be considered further.
The governing body does not overturn match results or reassess refereeing decisions through such complaints, effectively ending Barcelona’s attempt to challenge the officiating.
Barcelona had argued that the decision represented a “major error” and requested an investigation, including access to refereeing communications.
However, UEFA’s ruling leaves the result intact, with Atlético Madrid maintaining their 2–0 advantage from the first leg heading into the return fixture.
