Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, have opted to continue their nationwide protest instead of embarking on a fresh strike over their withheld eight-month salaries by the Federal Government.

This decision by the union represents a sigh of relief to students and parents as there were fears that the  Academic staff could embark on a fresh strike over their salaries arrears and other demands.

The union decision was the outcome of a lengthy National Executive Council (NEC) meeting at the union’s newly inaugurated secretariat at the University of Calabar, Calabar, Cross River State on Monday.
