The Cross River State College of Nursing Sciences, Obudu, has approved a 20 percent reduction in its pre-council examination fee following an advocacy visit by the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Cross River State Axis led by Comr. Victor Antigha Asuquo.
The high-level delegation, led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Students Orientation, Dr. Afufu Anthony Ogabor, alongside NANS JCC executives led by Comr. Victor Antigha Asuquo, visited the institution on Thursday, June 18, 2026, after weeks of engagement over concerns raised by students regarding examination fees.

The visit commenced with a management meeting attended by the Provost, Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria Undeshi, principal officers of the institution, and the Students’ Union Government (SUG) President. During the meeting, the Provost highlighted several challenges facing the college, including inadequate subvention, ongoing infrastructural projects, and additional regulatory requirements introduced by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), all of which have contributed to increased operational costs.
A town hall meeting was later held with students, providing an opportunity for open dialogue between management and the student body. Dr. Ogabor emphasized the need for stronger communication channels, while students were given the platform to express their concerns directly to management.

At the end of the engagement, management announced a 20 percent reduction in the pre-council examination fee, a move widely welcomed by students and stakeholders.
NANS JCC Chairman, Comr. Victor Antigha Asuquo commended the college management for its willingness to engage in constructive dialogue and responsiveness to students’ concerns. The council also appreciated the students for their patience and peaceful conduct throughout the process.
The student body leadership further pledged to continue engaging with the institution to ensure future fee structures are transparent, adequately communicated, and properly budgeted at the beginning of each academic session.
The council also expressed gratitude to the Cross River State Commissioner for Health and other stakeholders whose interventions contributed to the resolution of the matter.
