Olympique Lyonnais Féminin booked their place in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final after edging Arsenal in a dramatic two-legged semi-final.

Despite trailing 2–1 from the first leg in London, the French giants produced a strong comeback performance at home, winning the return leg 3–1 to progress on aggregate.

The result underlined Lyon’s pedigree in the competition, as they overturned the deficit with a composed and clinical display in front of their fans.

The match in France began with Lyon asserting control, though an early goal was ruled out. Their breakthrough eventually came via a penalty converted by captain Wendie Renard after a VAR review confirmed a foul on Melchie Dumornay.

Lyon built further momentum when Kadidiatou Diani doubled the lead from a well-worked set piece, putting them firmly ahead in the tie and applying pressure on the defending champions.

Arsenal responded late in the game through Alessia Russo, whose goal reignited hopes and briefly leveled the aggregate scoreline, setting up a tense finale.

However, Lyon showed resilience and attacking quality, with Jule Brand scoring a decisive late goal in the 86th minute after a clever assist from Dumornay.

The goal, confirmed after a VAR check, ultimately sealed Lyon’s victory and ended Arsenal’s hopes of reaching back-to-back finals.

With the win, Lyon advance to yet another Women’s Champions League final—extending their record in the competition—and will face either Barcelona or Bayern Munich in Oslo.

Their comeback victory highlights both their experience and depth, while Arsenal are left to reflect on missed opportunities after taking a first-leg advantage into the decisive second leg.
