Hugo Ekitike, the Liverpool F.C. and France striker, has reportedly been ruled out of the upcoming World Cup after suffering a serious injury during a UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Flashscore reports, the 23-year-old sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon and had to be stretchered off during the match at Anfield.

The injury occurred in Liverpool’s quarter-final second-leg defeat to PSG, where they lost 2–0 on the night and exited the competition 4–0 on aggregate.

Ekitike was seen pointing to his Achilles in visible pain before receiving medical attention, raising immediate concerns about the severity of the issue.

Medical reports suggest the injury will keep him out for several months, effectively ruling him out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The setback is a major blow for both Liverpool and the French national team, especially given Ekitike’s strong form this season, with 17 goals across all competitions since his move from Eintracht Frankfurt.
