The government of Cross River State has confirmed a COVID-19 case involving a 53-year-old Chinese national resident in the state.

Reports  gathered by Calabaronline indicate that the patient tested positive and was promptly isolated at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) to prevent further transmission.

Health authorities immediately activated response measures, including contact tracing and close monitoring of individuals who may have come into contact with the patient.

Officials said the situation is under control, with surveillance intensified across the state to curb any potential spread of the virus.

However, the Commissioner for Health, Henry Ayuk, reassured residents that there is no cause for panic.

He emphasized that the case was detected through the state’s surveillance system and that necessary protocols have been fully implemented, urging the public to remain calm and continue observing COVID-19 preventive guidelines.
