The Nigerian Navy has arrested some of its personnel following a public clash with soldiers during the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Bayelsa State.

The incident, which was captured in a viral video, reportedly occurred as the presidential convoy was departing an official event.

Eyewitnesses say the altercation began after a disagreement between a Naval Police driver and another driver believed to be attached to the Nigerian Army.

The situation quickly escalated when a soldier allegedly struck a naval officer, sparking a physical confrontation between personnel of both services.

The clash, which unfolded in full view of members of the public, caused panic and raised concerns over discipline and coordination among security agencies assigned to high-profile duties.

In a swift response, the Nigerian Navy confirmed that officers involved in the incident have been taken into custody.

A spokesperson for the Navy stated that the personnel are currently undergoing disciplinary procedures in line with military regulations.

Authorities have yet to disclose the exact cause of the disagreement, but the incident has drawn attention to the need for improved inter-agency cooperation and professionalism, especially during presidential movements.
