    Court Remands Teacher In Benue State Over Alleged Killing Of 3 Police Officers

    A Magistrates’ Court in Makurdi on Tuesday ordered that a teacher, Mernyi Christopher be remanded in prison for allegedly killing 3 policemen.

    Christopher, a resident of Katsina-Ala, was charged with criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.

    Magistrate Ajuma Igama, who gave the order in Makurdi the state capital, adjourned the case until Feb 25, for further mention.

    The prosecution counsel, Sgt. Ato Godwin told the court that Christopher was arrested by a team of ”Operation Zenda,” led by Sgt. Tivue Godwin following a manhunt for a notorious syndicate terrorising Katsina-Ala town.

    According to him, the syndicate, allegedly stormed the residence of the Chairman of Katsina-Ala LGA, Alfred Avalumun on Dec 24, 2020.

    However, he told the court that during police investigation, Mr Christopher confessed to committing the offence, alongside one Aondofa Chekele and that others are still at large.

    More so, as reported by Daily Post, the case have been adjourned till 25 of Feb, 2021
