The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, once again carried out a peaceful demonstration seeking for the Federal Government to pay their salary arrears.
Our correspondent was on ground as the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Asuu, UNIUYO chapter engaged in a peaceful demonstration over unpaid arrears by the Federal Government.
“For months now, I have not received my promotion arrears as due, it’s painful and life-threatening,” he said.

He added, “It’s not only here in the University of Uyo, our colleagues in other federal Universities, nationwide will join in this peaceful demonstration”.
It is believed that another chapter of the Union earlier today engaged in this peaceful demonstration.
In a chat with a final year student of the University of Lagos, she said her exams were postponed because of the “ASUU strike” today.
The body has pledged to engage in what they tagged “mother of all strikes” if the federal government does not fulfill their promises.
If you can recall, the union went on an 8-months-old Strike(14 Feb – 14 Oct, 2022), and their demands were;
• University of Revitalisation.
• Earned Allowances.
• Improved Funding for State Universities.
• Promotion Arrears.
Will we see a “Mother of all Strikes” from the union than what happened in 2022?
