The Presidency has publicly clarified its position with respect to an organisation that is operating under the name “Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council” to say that it has nothing to do with the Federal Government or the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, released a statement on Thursday stating that it is not a recognised government agency and does not exist in the structure of the current administration.

Gbajabiamila also denied the rumours that Adeniyi Adeyemi has been appointed by his office to any post associated with the organisation.

The statement said that government officials became aware of one such person claiming to have been presenting himself to the public as being appointed by the Office of the Chief of Staff, through the so-called council.

The Presidency urged Nigerians and members of the world community to ignore the claims and clarified that the organisation is not endorsed by it.

Foreign diplomatic missions, development partners, international financial institutions, security agencies, and other stakeholders have been advised to note the clarification and be cautious in any engagement with the group.

The group’s social media pages say it is an organisation that promotes foreign investment and international partnership for Nigeria, but the Presidency says it is not linked to the group.

A look back at the group’s online presence shows that it has held investment-focused gatherings while using official federal government branding and symbols. Several posts also list Adeniyi Adeyemi as the group’s director-general.

Administration has repeatedly made it clear that neither the advisory body nor its purported leadership has been given any mandate by the Federal Government.
